TOKYO, 23rd February – MP & Silva, a leading international sports agency with the strongest portfolio of football media rights globally, will continue to build on its successful distribution of the German Bundesliga in Japan for the 2015/2016 to the 2017/2018 season, having acquired the exclusive media rights from FOX International Channels (FIC), 21st Century FOX’s multi-media business and Asia’s leading payTV network under a comprehensive sublicensing deal approved by Bundesliga’s commercial subsidiary DFL Sports Enterprises.
MP & Silva will be the exclusive distributor of Bundesliga rights in Japan across all platforms, including cable, satellite, terrestrial, Web TV, IPTV and mobile. The deal covers all league matches, the Supercup and the relegation matches as well as league highlights from every round.
Significantly, the broadcast deal underlines MP & Silva’s strong local partnerships with major broadcasters in Japan, and was successful in raising the profile of the league as the current Bundesliga rights holder for the current cycle from 2012/2013 to 2014/2015 seasons. DFL Sports Enterprises has been very satisfied with the MP & Silva partnership in Japan and welcomes the continuation of the cooperation.

The popularity of the Bundesliga in Japan is expected to continue growing with 13 players in the league, such as Genki Haraguchi (Hertha BSC), Makoto Hasebe (Eintracht Frankfurt), Hajime Hosogai (Hertha BSC), Takashi Inui (Eintracht Frankfurt), Shinji Kagawa (Borussia Dortmund), Mitsutu Maruoka (Borussia Dortmund), Hiroshi Kiyotake (Hannover 96), Shinji Okazaki (Mainz 05), Yuya Osako (Cologne), Kazuki Nagasawa (Cologne), Gotoku Sakai (VfB Stuttgart), Hiroki Sakai (Hannover 96) and Atsuto Uchida (Schalke 04).
